Introduction
September 23 marks the fifth Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival, whose theme this year is “Celebrating the Harvest, Welcoming the Grand Event.” As an important cash crop in China, tea is a key lever for promoting rural economic development, raising farmers’ incomes, advancing coordinated urban-rural development, and enhancing the country’s soft power.

On September 23, a key event of the Farmers’ Harvest Festival in Xuancheng City, Anhui Province — the first Xuancheng City Tea-Making (Handcrafted Tea) Skills Competition — was held in Langxi County, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province.
During the event, the contestants moved swiftly, precisely, and methodically as wok after wok of freshly pan-fired tea came out, and the venue was instantly filled with a refreshing tea aroma.
Hunan · Miluo

On September 23, the 2022 Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival National Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (Miluo, Hunan) Theme Day event was held in Miluo City, Hunan Province.
The event featured five major exhibition areas. In the “Golden Autumn Consumption Season” exhibition and sales area, more than 100 famous, high-quality specialty products of the province were on display across over 30 booths, showcasing Hunan Province’s achievements in this year’s agricultural harvest and industrial development.
At the venue, tea artists dressed in traditional ethnic costumes brewed the colorful teas of Hunan for guests to taste and gave detailed introductions of the company’s branded teas to visiting citizens. At the same time, they livestreamed through the “Xiang Tea Girls” Douyin account, drawing widespread attention from netizens.

On September 24, the farmers’ fun games at the Jiangxi main venue of the 2022 “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival” were held in Fuliang County, Jiangxi Province.
Centered on farming, rural fun, and country flavors, and closely tied to the farming season, farm work, and the harvest period, the games featured agricultural competitions such as tea picking, grain-carrying relays, a fun tug-of-war, plank-shoe racing, and “cockfighting,” bringing folk sports to life, showcasing local customs, passing on farming culture, and expressing farmers’ joy at the harvest and their aspirations for a better life.
Guangxi · Wuzhou & Lingshan

Image: On September 27, the “Celebrating the Harvest · Welcoming the Grand Event” Wuzhou City 2022 “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival” and the Fourth Cangwu County Liubao Tea Culture and Tourism Festival were held in Wuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
This Farmers’ Harvest Festival featured a rich variety of activities, including a Liubao tea exhibition and sales fair, the Second Liubao Tea Sealing Ceremony, hands-on traditional Liubao tea-making experiences and tea-culture tours, and livestream e-commerce — fully tapping into and showcasing the profound cultural heritage of Liubao tea and jointly creating a strong atmosphere of celebrating, sharing, talking about, and enjoying the harvest.
The scene of the tea-picking competition. Image: On September 20, the tea-picking contest at the launch event of Lingshan County’s 2022 “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival” celebration was held in Lingshan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The contestants’ hands flew nonstop over the tea bushes, swiftly dropping the picked fresh leaves into bamboo baskets. While celebrating the harvest, everyone also sharpened their tea-picking skills.
Fujian · Yongtai
On September 23, the main venue event of the 2022 Fujian Province “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival” (Fuzhou) was held in Yongtai County, Fujian Province.
The event presented original “agriculture, rural areas, and farmers” cultural programs themed around Fujian’s mountains and seas and the distinctive rural cultures of various regions. Among them, the newly choreographed “Fragrance of Jasmine” was unique to the host venue. Yongtai County is the main production area of Fuzhou jasmine flowers, and jasmine is also a featured product of the county’s rural tourism.
At the event, three masters of the traditional craftsmanship of Fuzhou jasmine tea danced with flowers as they jointly performed an original tea-culture musical scene, fully expressing the joy of Fuzhou’s tea artisans at the jasmine harvest.
