On October 9, the press conference of the 2022 China Forestry and Grassland Economy Development Boao Conference was held in Beijing. All-media reporters of China Cooperation Times · Tea Weekly learned at the conference that the event will be held from December 8 to 11, 2022 at the Ocean Flower Island International Conference Center.
The conference is hosted by the China Forestry Industry Federation, the China Forestry and Environment Promotion Association, the China National Forest Product Industry Association and the Overseas Chinese Tea Industry Development Research Foundation, with support from the Industrial Development Planning Institute of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Hainan Provincial Forestry Bureau.

At the press conference, Liu Tuo, vice president of the China Forestry Industry Federation, released information on “the new pattern of China’s forestry and grassland development.” He introduced that the forestry and grassland economy is one of the fastest-growing sectors in China. After more than 70 years of development, China’s forestry and grassland economy has created two world miracles and made two enormous contributions to the globe. First, while global forest resources have been declining and China’s rapid economic growth has placed enormous pressure on timber demand, China’s forest resources have achieved substantial growth, making the country the one with the largest increase in forest area in the world — a huge contribution to safeguarding global ecological security.

The tea industry is an important green economy in China and an important component of the country’s forestry. The “2022 China International Tea Industry Boao Conference” can be said to be a major highlight of the “2022 China Forestry and Grassland Economy Development Boao Conference.” Shao Shuguang, chairman of the Overseas Chinese Tea Industry Development Research Foundation, introduced at the press conference that the conference will invite diplomatic envoys to China from tea-producing and tea-consuming countries around the world, governments of tea-producing and tea-selling regions, academicians of the “two academies,” representatives from the financial and investment fields, tea beverage companies, multinational tea group enterprises, China’s top 100 tea enterprises and cross-sector business elites to jointly discuss the development of China’s tea industry, deliberate on tea industry strategy and plan for the future of tea. It is learned that the conference will bring in social capital and establish a special forestry and grassland fund to invest in the forestry and grassland industry. Leveraging the preferential policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port, an international trading center for the forestry and grassland industry will be established in Hainan. Meanwhile, the conference will feature 8,000 square meters of on-site exhibition space and a large-scale expo. By then, more than 2,000 Chinese and foreign guests will participate in the conference online and offline in various forms, carrying out multi-dimensional exchanges and cooperation, developing the under-forest economy and boosting the forestry and grassland industry.

Amid the pandemic, China’s forestry and grassland industry faces opportunities amid challenges, and China’s tea industry likewise faces many challenges such as transformation, upgrading, quality improvement and efficiency enhancement. It is believed that this conference will integrate various relevant resource elements of the forestry and grassland industry in multiple ways, using it as a super fulcrum, and with a brand-new green-economy engine industry concept, new technological means such as digitalization, and a unique operating model as levers, pry forward the cross-sector integrated development of the forestry and grassland economy segment and the tea industry within the Chinese economy.
