Autumn tea production of Anxi Tieguanyin is proceeding in full swing, and in Anxi County, where tea-tasting contests have long been a custom, major tea competitions are being held one after another. The 2022 Bama Tea “Double Champions, Double Tea Kings” events (Wuyi Rock Tea and Anxi Tieguanyin) are underway in full swing; among them, the sample-collection stage of the 2022 Wuyi Rock Tea “Dual World Heritage” Cup Tea King Competition has concluded perfectly and entered the expert evaluation stage. The 2022 Anxi Tieguanyin Tea King Competition and the 2nd Strong-Aroma Anxi Tieguanyin (Raw Material) Selection are about to open their sample-collection stage.
Since 2019, Bama Tea has hosted the Anxi Tieguanyin Tea King Competition, and in 2021 pioneered the Anxi Tieguanyin Strong-Aroma “Raw Material” Selection. As a national key leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization that has ranked first in tax payments among Anxi tea enterprises for many consecutive years, it created the hit strong-aroma Tieguanyin product “Sai Zhen Zhu,” which has led and driven the development of the strong-aroma Tieguanyin category and won an excellent reputation for Anxi Tieguanyin. To fully leverage Bama Tea’s channel advantages, better spread the Anxi Tieguanyin tea culture system, and promote Anxi Tieguanyin, this year’s competition has been renamed the “2022 Anxi Tieguanyin ‘Sai Zhen Zhu’ Cup Tea King Competition.”

In 2022, with a brand value of 143 billion yuan, Anxi Tieguanyin ranked first in value among regional brands (geographical indications) — an honor it has now held for three consecutive years, and it has ranked first in brand value among China’s tea regional brands for seven consecutive years. On May 20, the Anxi Tieguanyin tea culture system was officially recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as a “Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS).”
To thoroughly implement the General Secretary’s important instruction that “we must coordinate and do a great job on the great article of tea culture, the tea industry, and tea science and technology,” and to expand the competition’s influence, the 2022 Anxi Tieguanyin “Sai Zhen Zhu” Cup Tea King Competition has been further upgraded: it is jointly hosted by the China Tea Marketing Association and the Anxi County People’s Government; co-organized by the Anxi County Tea Industry Management Committee Office, the Anxi County Federation of Trade Unions, the Anxi County Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, the Anxi County Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and the Anxi County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau; and undertaken by the Anxi County High-Level Talent Development Promotion Association and Fujian Bama Tea Co., Ltd. Joint hosting by an authoritative industry association and the government elevates the competition to a higher grade — more authoritative, fairer, and of higher standing — creating a high-specification, high-standard Tea King event that better promotes the high-quality development of Anxi Tieguanyin.
