On the afternoon of October 20, Fang Chenggang, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Department of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, led a research team deep into Pu’er City to gain a detailed understanding of the development of low-fluoride Pu’er tea in the city. The two sides reached a consensus on cooperation in strengthening the product quality and technical services of low-fluoride Pu’er tea.
Bai Zhaolin, First-level Inspector of the Pu’er Municipal Government and Executive Deputy Head of the Pu’er Municipal Leading Group for Low-Fluoride Pu’er Tea Production and Marketing, led the low-fluoride tea task force and the principal officials of relevant departments to attend the symposium.
At the meeting, Fang Chenggang, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Management Department of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, introduced the members of the expert team to the participants and explained the purpose of this research visit. He said that the purpose of the Academy’s research was to further strengthen the effective delivery of technical services for low-fluoride Pu’er tea, and to comprehensively promote the upgrading of Pu’er tea technology research and services. In the scientific research work ahead, the Academy will rely on scientific and technological innovation, adhere to science-enterprise cooperation, and promote the low-fluoride tea industry economy to grow bigger and stronger.
At the meeting, Bai Zhaolin, First-level Inspector of the Pu’er Municipal Government and Executive Deputy Head of the Pu’er Municipal Leading Group for Low-Fluoride Pu’er Tea Production and Marketing, welcomed the experts from the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences on their research visit. He also gave a systematic introduction to the situation of low-fluoride Pu’er tea.
Bai Zhaolin said that the construction and development of the low-fluoride Pu’er tea industry is a key link in the Pu’er tea industry — it is meaningful, valuable and feasible. Making low-fluoride Pu’er tea that people can afford, can obtain and can truly enjoy is the main goal of the industry’s development. Low-fluoride Pu’er tea is a Pu’er tea industry with cultural support, historical basis, output support and an emotional foundation; it is also an industry that Pu’er City has actively planned through multi-faceted efforts, and even more an industry that fits the national theme of “Great Health”. At the same time, regarding the production and marketing of low-fluoride Pu’er tea, he elaborated on the “Five Unifications” of low-fluoride Pu’er tea, namely unified deployment, unified standards, unified production, unified marketing and unified supervision.
At the meeting, experts from the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other relevant parties also expressed their opinions and views on the production and development of low-fluoride Pu’er tea. Among them, Lin Zhi, Researcher at the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Chief Scientist of the Tea Processing Quality and Regulation Innovation Team, said that Pu’er City’s emphasis on “low fluoride” is a valuable cause worthy of everyone’s joint efforts. Regarding the current issues and situation of low-fluoride Pu’er tea, he put forward the following suggestions:
1. In the process of strengthening the product standard system for low-fluoride Pu’er tea, including national and local standards, further regulation and improvement should be carried out according to hierarchy;
2. Regarding pricing, it is suggested that the relevant departments of the low-fluoride Pu’er tea industry consciously plan and organize for event-based situations, establish special funds including interest-subsidized loans and interest-free loans, and at the same time consciously segment the market according to different levels such as raw materials and warehousing, so as to improve the price system;
3. In terms of the product system, it is suggested to establish and improve production technical rules and build systems for production technical standards such as planting and cultivation, while also improving the collection of raw materials and the planning and preparation for border-sale teas, and improving the product traceability system;
4. Consciously improve the brand planning and publicity of low-fluoride Pu’er tea and expand publicity efforts;
5. Pool resources from various parties, consciously build a technical support platform, further improve the quality of low-fluoride Pu’er tea, improve the formulation of technical standards for the blending and the stem-and-leaf harvesting of low-fluoride Pu’er tea, and in mechanized processing, raise the degree of automation and expand mechanical production capacity.
Finally, Bai Zhaolin, First-level Inspector of the Pu’er Municipal Government and Executive Deputy Head of the Pu’er Municipal Leading Group for Low-Fluoride Pu’er Tea Production and Marketing, drawing on the exchanges between the two sides at the symposium, said that the work on low-fluoride Pu’er tea will continue to be advanced unswervingly and with full effort. With the government’s endorsement, thinking at all levels of the low-fluoride Pu’er tea industry will be unified, and the development of the low-fluoride tea industry will be improved through overall planning. At the same time, a low-fluoride Pu’er tea expert technical service team will be established, led by the National Pu’er Tea Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center, to accelerate the follow-up on the production of actual low-fluoride Pu’er tea samples and the improvement of standards. The implementation and inspection of low-fluoride tea raw material bases, production capacity and production enterprises will be strengthened, as will exchanges and cooperation with the expert technical team of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
After the meeting, the expert team of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Leading Group for Low-Fluoride Pu’er Tea Production and Marketing conducted a tasting of low-fluoride Pu’er tea products.
