This morning, the press conference of the 2022 14th Hunan Tea Industry Expo and the Jianghua Kucha Summit Forum was held in Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province.
The press conference announced that the 2022 14th Hunan Tea Industry Expo will be grandly held in Changsha, Hunan Province, from September 2 to 5. The conference was chaired by Tang Jianchu, Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee of the 14th Hunan Tea Industry Expo and Deputy Director-General of the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Zhao Jinsong, Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee of the 14th Hunan Tea Industry Expo and Party Group member and Chief Economist of the Hunan Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative, released the news; and Wan Ruqing, Standing Committee member of the Jianghua Yao Autonomous County Party Committee and Head of its Publicity Department, introduced the development of Jianghua’s tea industry. Nearly 200 people attended the press conference, including Wu Huicai, Vice Mayor of Yongzhou City; Zhou Chongwang, President of the Hunan Provincial Tea Association; and representatives of the expo’s hosts, organizers, and co-organizers, experts and scholars, and media representatives.
Zhao Jinsong introduced that the 14th Hunan Tea Industry Expo is hosted by the Hunan Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative, the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and other units, and organized by the Hunan Provincial Tea Association, the Hunan Provincial Black Tea Industry Development Promotion Association, and other units. The expo will comprehensively display and publicize the achievements of Hunan’s tea industry in consolidating and expanding the tea industry’s poverty-alleviation accomplishments and in advancing rural revitalization across the board, actively build the Hunan tea brand, strive to expand the Hunan tea market, strengthen the construction of the “Five-Color Hunan Tea” advantageous industrial cluster, and promote the high-quality development of the Hunan tea industry. At present, with the strong support of relevant departments at all levels across the province, the Yongzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government, the major tea-producing cities and counties, and tea enterprises province-wide, preparations for the 14th Hunan Tea Industry Expo are progressing smoothly.
This expo covers an exhibition area of 25,000 square meters, with more than 1,300 participating enterprises from inside and outside the province; the “Five-Color Hunan Tea” brand cluster will exhibit together as a group in full presentation. At the same time, around the themes “Yao Capital Tribute Tea \u2014 Jianghua Kucha” and “Jianghua Kucha \u2014 Fine Tea of the Yao Mountains,” the expo will hold a “Jianghua Kucha” promotion event at the opening ceremony. To highlight and display the achievements of Hunan’s tea industry in rural revitalization and tea-tourism integration, the organizing committee has organized the recommendation and selection of the 2022 Hunan Tea Rural Revitalization “Top Ten Tea-Tourism Integration Demonstration Counties (Cities, Districts),” “Top Ten Tea-Tourism Integration Benchmark Enterprises,” and “Top Ten Tea-Tourism Integration Characteristic Scenic Areas,” with an award ceremony to be held at the opening. To promote Hunan tea beyond Hunan, the committee has invited dozens of distributors from the country’s major tea-consuming regions to hold the “China Tea North-South Dialogue and Five-Color Hunan Tea (Hunan Black Tea) Matchmaking and Exchange Conference.” In addition, the expo will feature the “‘Jianghua Kucha Cup’ \u2014 ‘Falling in Love with Black Tea, Falling in Love with You’ Hunan Black Tea” theme-song singing challenge, as well as a colorful series of events including an Anhua dark tea promotion, a Sangzhi white tea promotion, and “Little Tea People Tour the Grand Expo.”<\/p>\n

Before the press conference, the “Jianghua Kucha Summit Forum” was also held. Professor Cai Zhenchu of Hunan Normal University; Zhang Shuguang, Director of the Hunan Provincial Tea Research Institute; Professor Cao Jin of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University; Professor Zhu Haiyan of Hunan Agricultural University; Bao Xiaocun, Chief Expert of the Hunan Provincial Tea Industry System; and Cao Wencheng, former President of the Hunan Provincial Tea Association, delivered presentations on Jianghua Kucha’s history and culture, variety breeding, health mechanisms, marketing, and other aspects.<\/p>\n

It is understood that Jianghua County, anciently called Fengcheng, has a history of more than 2,100 years. Located at the northern foot of the Nanling Mountains, it borders three counties (cities, districts) each of Guangdong and Guangxi, and stands at the foremost edge of the Guangdong\u2013Hong Kong\u2013Macao Greater Bay Area’s radiation belt, a bridgehead connecting with ASEAN and receiving industrial transfer in southern Hunan. Jianghua County is Hunan Province’s only Yao autonomous county and Yongzhou City’s only ethnic minority county; with its profound Yao cultural heritage, it is known as the “Yao Capital of China.” The county’s forest coverage reaches 78.78%, and its rate of good air quality stays above 95% year-round, earning it the title “China’s Natural Oxygen Bar” \u2014 a resort for tourism, vacation, and leisure. With its superior ecological environment, magical and beautiful landscapes, and the enduring spirit of Yao tea culture, Jianghua County has become a treasured land for growing tea and making it flourish.
Jianghua Kucha, produced in Jianghua County, is one of Hunan’s rare tea tree germplasm resources and one of China’s distinctive and precious local varieties. Jianghua County is an advantageous production area for quality Hunan black tea, one of Hunan Province’s first batch of tea export product production bases, and one of Hunan Province’s key tea-producing counties.<\/p>\n

The day before the forum, attending guests also went on field trips to Jianghua County’s major tea and tea-culture bases: they toured the Yao Culture Park, wandered the Yao tea countryside, tasted Jianghua Kucha, strolled the Yao Capital Water Street, enjoyed the Tianhe Yao Village cultural performances, and savored Yao specialty cuisine \u2014 allowing the guests to fully experience the boundless charm of China’s Yao Capital and Jianghua Kucha.
